Advanced Event at Carolina North Forest (10 May)

Registration for this event is now closed.

Barring an extension of North Carolina’s stay-at-home order, we expect to be able to hold an orienteering event at Carolina North Forest on Sunday, May 10.  The event is open only to ‘advanced’ orienteers – those who have successfully completed an orange, brown, green, or red course.  Start and finish from the parking lot of Seawell Elementary School (GPS = 35.940171, -79.078585).  Please note the following procedures that we will implement to help with social distancing.

1.  When you register, you must select a specific 1-hour start window between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM.  When six people have chosen a window, it will be closed.

2.  There will be no beginner courses, no beginner class, no rental fingersticks, no loaner compasses, no plastic map bags (i.e., bring your own), and no registration forms.  Participants may request to receive their map via email if they prefer to not pick it up at the event.

In addition, the park requests that all participants sign an indemnity waiver.  The form to sign will be available at the event, but please bring your own pen to sign it.  If you prefer to print and sign your form at home and bring it to the event, please request it from the event director.

You must preregister for this event here before Friday May 8 at 5:00 PM, so that we know how many maps to print.
