Sprint July 7, at Dorothea Dix Park

Filed under: Latest News by David Waller on July 1st, 2019

After some shifting around of our schedule, we’re very pleased that one of BOK’s newest members (though a longtime orienteer) Gheorghe Fala has stepped-up to set three sprint courses at Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh, this Sunday, July 7. Everyone is invited to enjoy one or more short, fast courses in a more urban setting than we’re accustomed to. One of the courses will be beginner friendly.

Starts can be accommodated between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, and we are tentatively planning to offer a beginner’s class at 11:00 AM. If you’re new to orienteering and want to try it out, this is a great low-risk opportunity. Try to arrive by 10:30 or so, to take the beginner’s class.

Registration and starts will be at the small shelter on Umstead Drive, just east of the large parking lot. Park here (GPS coordinates = 35.771660, -78.661775).

Everyone (including members) must pre-register for this event so that we know how many maps to print. Register and pay here, being sure to indicate how many courses you plan to run.
