Expert event at Horton Grove, October 11
Registration for this event is closed.
On Sunday, October 11 we will have an orienteering event at Horton Grove Nature Preserve in Bahama, NC. The event is open only to ‘expert’ orienteers – those who have successfully completed a brown, green, or red course. The registration page is here. As you register, please keep in mind that annual passes run from September through August; so it’s time to renew if you have not already done so. You can add an annual pass to your bag when you register. Read more about our annual passes here.
Check-in at the main parking lot (GPS coordinates = 36.142298, -78.843700) to receive your map. Please note that Horton Grove has no bathroom facilities, running water, or electricity. You can read more about orienteering in Horton Grove here.
We will implement the following procedures to help with social distancing.
1. When you register, you must select a specific 1-hour 30-minute start window between 11 AM 11:30 and 2:00 PM. When 10 people have chosen a window, it will be closed.
2. There will be no beginner courses, no beginner class, no rental fingersticks, no loaner compasses, no plastic map bags (please remember to bring your own), and no registration forms.
3. All courses will have a remote start and finish.
4. Please consider wearing a mask when you’re not on your course.
You must preregister for this event here before Friday October 9 at 5:00 PM, so that we know how many maps to print.
