Map pickup will be near the O’Briant Cabin. Take the Cox Mountain trail to the swing bridge across the river. Turn left after you cross the bridge and the cabin is a short walk alongside the river. Your map, along with rental finger stick and anything else you have purchased will be set out with your name on it. Masks are required near others and definitely around the start/finish/download areas. Map to start is here (PDF at 1:4000 scale). Remember to return to O’Briant Cabin to download and check-out before you leave the event!

If overflow parking is needed, please use the service road to the East of the parking loop as shown on the map to start. Park on the East side unless otherwise directed by park staff.

In lieu of a beginner class we have three short videos to introduce you to orienteering with BOK.

Event staff will be available to answer questions if you need additional instruction. The white courses is mostly on-trail. The yellow course requires off-trail use of handrail features such as streams, re-entrants, erosion gullies, power lines, and rides. Please ask event staff if you don’t know what these terms mean.

We will have course notes for yellow to help newcomers start learning more about off-trail orienteering and the terminology and techniques orienteering people use.

Course details

  • White 1.6km 8 controls
  • Yellow 2.2km 11 controls
  • Orange 3.8km 12 controls
  • Brown 3.8km 8 controls
  • Green 5.6km 11 controls
  • Red 7.1 km 11 controls

As usual, help with control pickup is always appreciated.
