Filed under: Latest News,Next Events by Vladimir Stemkovski on July 28th, 2025

We will have an open event at Lake Crabtree County Park on August 3, 2025, (1400 Aviation Pkwy, Morrisville, NC 27560.). Registration will be at the White Oak Shelter. Look for the signage to White Oak Shelter (4405 Lake Crabtree Park) on your right just after you pass the visitor center on your left.

This event is open to all skill levels. Start anytime between 10 am and noon. Courses close at 1 pm when we start picking up controls. Be sure to check in at the shelter after your course so we know everyone made it back.

There will be 3 courses available and you can run one or all of them in any order:

Sprint A – 2.3 km (Orange-Yellow level)

Sprint B – 2.3 km (Yellow level)

Sprint C – 1.7 km (Yellow level)

Beginners may prepare themselves by watching the videos on our Newcomer Information Page. If you need additional instruction or have questions, please ask one of the BOK volunteers at registration.

We always appreciate help with control pickup.

  1. Are these short woods courses? or actually Sprints? I’m happy either way but helpful to know how to dress/gear and what to expect.

Sprints around the open areas of the park (school, urban, etc.) using ISSprOM maps and good with running shoes, shorts, sleeveless shirts, etc?

Or Short woods courses that would be better with long socks, woods shoes, etc. and use regular ISOM maps?

  2. These are sprint courses that run through wooded areas. Sprint A is primarily in the woods and has poison ivy, particularly near the creek areas. Sprint B and C involve more running around parking lots but still require going off-trail at points. I’d recommend wearing long socks and trail/woods shoes for all three courses.
