Update Oct 14, 2016

The event is ON. The park reopened at noon today and the park staff were incredibly helpful to us in reviewing our courses for possible impact and in allowing us to check out sites and set controls.

See below for updated group registration information and fillable PDF entry form that you can prepare (and save) at home.

We will have an OPEN event at Raven Rock State Park on Sunday October 16, 2016.
Everyone is welcome, and we will have a beginners class at 12:30.

The event starts at noon and everybody must finish by 3 PM. We will have all regular courses from beginner to advanced, White through Red.
White 2.1km 10 controls
Yellow 2.8km 9 controls
Orange 3.8km 11 controls
Brown 3.8km 8 controls
Green 5.8km 10 controls
Red 7.0km 14 controls

The park is a lovely park, but there are some steep slopes and quite a bit of mountain laurel to slow you down off trail. A reminder that you may encounter chiggers or ticks, so take precautions.

If you are bringing a group of 5 or more people please preregister for this event.

We now have a fillable PDF entry form which you can save on your computer and print to bring with you to the event. You can always find links to these in “BOK Information” links on the right of most BOK pages.

As always, help with control pick-up would be greatly appreciated.

Directions

Raven Rock is near Lillington, about 40 miles S of Raleigh. We will be using the part of Raven Rock that is South of the Cape Fear River. If you are using a GPS to get to the park, use the address: 3009 Raven Rock Road, Lillington, NC, 27546 or use GPS coordinates: 35.459259, -78.912911. Note that Moccasin Branch Rd is unpaved and has a stream crossing it with a ford rather than a bridge. Do not take this at speed! If the park is full (likely), you may be directed to parking on Moccassin Branch Rd a short distance from the park entrance. We will start at the picnic shelter which is adjacent to the first parking area on your right after you enter the park.
