Sycamore Scramble “A” Meet Feb. 20-21, 2010

The USOF Sanctioning Committee just approved our “A” Meet for February 20-21, 2010.   Our plan is to have a Sprint Saturday morning, a Middle Distance event Saturday afternoon, and a Classic event on Sunday.

An “A” meet is a nationally sanctioned event that will attract competitors from around the country.

BOK has hosted 7 previous national events including 4 championships.  We have requested that the Sycamore Scramble be designated the Intercollegiate Championship event for 2010, and the United States Orienteering Federation (USOF) will probably make that decision in the next week.

Are you wondering about the name?  The event will be headquartered at Camp Sycamore / Camp Lapihio, and the choice between Sycamore Scramble and Lapihio Leap was not a hard one.

We will start to organize this event at our annual meeting which we are holding after the event this Sunday at Camp Whispering Pines.   The meeting should start about 4:00pm after we pick up the controls.  If for some reason we move it to a restaurant look for a note on the first orienteering sign as you enter the park.  If there is no note taped to the sign, then continue on to Camp Whispering Pines for the meeting.
