Dorothea Dix Sprints June 4, 2023
On June 4, we will be holding an Open Sprints orienteering event at Dix Park in Raleigh. Everyone is welcome.
We will be offering beginner class at 11.30 am
The start and finish will be near the gazebo on Umstead Drive (35.771244, -78.661292) 125m west of Hunt Dr.
Please be aware there are controls around the cemetery, which is out of bounds. The cemetery has black bars on the map and has physical white posts on its border. Please be respectful of the cemetery. Do not run inside the white posts; even to cut corners. There are also many new construction areas around the park, these areas are fenced and will be marked on the map as out of bounds.
There will be several sprint courses of various lengths. You will be able to run any or all of them in any order. The courses will be open from 11 am and everybody must finish by 2 pm.
You must preregister for this event here before Friday June 2 at 10 PM. We will be printing maps on Saturday morning.
