2m ARDF Practice at Raven Rock State Park
This is an OPEN event, everyone is welcome & instruction is available.
We will have a 2m classic course at Raven Rock State Park (near Lillington) on June 5, Sunday. Park at any available spot close to the shelter, or visitor center. The park is likely to be crowded, so arriving early can help ensure you’ll find parking (GPS 35.4621 -78.9121, Google maps link). Then follow the BOK signs from near the shelter to registration and map pick-up. For more information about Radio-O/ARDF, see the BOK ARDF page.
The course opens at 9 AM and closes at 2 PM. Everyone must pre-register here to participate. There is no need to sign up for a particular course. Everyone gets the same map. Please register by the end of the day on Friday, June 3.
New to 2m Radio Orienteering? We will be able to help you get started and use the 2m receivers throughout the day.
The course: 2m Classic – It will be a non-regulation course with the finish located inside the start’s 750-meter exclusion zone, but not at the start. And there will be no start or finish corridors. All foxes will be at least 400m from the finish, and from one another. The start will be a short walk from registration, and the finish will be a short walk back to the download area/start. Details:
- Course effective lengths: 5 foxes = 7.4km, 4 foxes = 5.9km
- Fox frequency: 144.50 MHz
- Beacon frequency: 145.55 MHz
- Transmit power: 1W
