Umstead East Radio Foxoring - 17-24 January 2026
Umstead East Radio Foxoring - 17-24 January 2026
This will be a no-check-in Foxoring event limited to experienced orienteers who know how to operate an 80m radio orienteering receiver. If you don't know what foxoring is, or you're an inexperienced orienteer, this event is not for you. There will be no beginners' class, and no on-site registration or check-in. There is no finger stick rental: you must bring your own finger stick to record your time. Bring your own whistle and compass, and please carry a cell phone with you on the course. You will also need to print your own map.
Never go into the woods alone without informing others of your plans. And take a cell phone with you. Feel free to contact the Event Director (Charles at 984-227-3427) to inform him of your plans - this phone number is printed on your map.
After registering, you will be able to download a PDF of the course map, which you will need to print out. The map will include all the information you need: start location, frequencies, and courses.
There will be three course options:
1) W55/M60 course consisting of six foxes (4.8 km effective length)
2) M40 course consisting of eight foxes (6.5 km effective length)
3) M21+ course consisting of ten foxes (7.2 km effective length)
