We had great weather for our three-day event, featuring a full set of Radio-O and Orienteering. As usual, the expert runners said the courses were particularly challenging. Is that why it takes 3 days to set out all the courses? Of course the two Radio-O controls that had problems were the furtherst out, so many thanks to Charles who trudged out there several times to get the foxes back on the air. We had a good turnout for the pizza dinner, but after dinner only Vladimir and Tatyana had the energy to head out in the dark for the Night-O. A couple of people camped in our woods. In the end, Erin and Evgeny saved me by helping pick up many of the transmitters and controls.
Being a glutton for punishment we will be having another 3-day event on October 16-19. We have figured out how we can have all the Radio-O courses run all three days. Our transmitters and receivers are so accurate we will use more frequencies. As an example we could assign the frequencies like this:
- Classic 3.52
- Sprint 3.53, 3.54 & 3.55
- FoxO 3.56, 3.57, 3.58
- Beacon 3.60
If I can build enough of the SignalSlingers to turn the 2m transmitters on and off I will be able to have the 2m event run both Saturday and Sunday.
