Results for Sprint event at Lake Crabtree July 27
The sprint event at at Lake Crabtree County Park, was a lot of fun. After a week with plenty of rain, we thought Sunday would be relatively fine. At around 9:30 or so, a huge thunderstorm rolled in as Pat and I were setting controls. With my map now an illegible sodden replica of its former glory, I had to set the last 4 or 5 controls entirely from memory. We had intermittent light rain through the event and some folks were confused because I put the finish control on the tailgate rather than the picnic table a short distance away as it was on the map. The start was also a little away and some new folks probably did not clear before starting. I’ve assigned a nominal start time two minutes before the time for control 1 in that case.
Other than those technical difficulties, everyone seemed to enjoy the courses and we had a good day.
