We had a beautiful morning for our May 3rd event at White Pines Nature Preserve; sunny, a little chilly, and perfect for running. Thank you to everyone who came out. We had 25 starts, and it was great to hear that several participants were visiting this preserve for the first time.

This 285-acre peninsula, located at the confluence of the Deep and Rocky Rivers and protected by the Triangle Land Conservancy, may not be large, but it offers nearly six miles of trails. If you’re looking for a quiet place to explore, it’s well worth a return visit.

Many runners shared that they appreciated the route choices on several legs. Designing an expert-level course in a trail-dense area can be a challenge, so it was rewarding to hear that the navigation still felt interesting.

A quick note on control 38 on the Green and Red course: I may have been the only one who didn’t spot the streamer and ended up placing the bag a bit south on a newly fallen tree. My apologies if that cost you time. As Clint kindly put it, “At least I got a chance to rest up before heading to the next control.”
